POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Operation Manager, this position supports the all areas of developing, color matching, testing and preparing glazes, and maintaining the Glaze Preparation Area; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Assess incoming color samples to determine application techniques that will be successful in production.
- Supervises the preparation of glazes and material for color matching trials.
- Checks glazes for defects.
- Checks finished product for freeze and thaw, chemical resistance, shivering and adhesion.
- Maintains prices and records of glaze formulas for stain and chemicals.
- Supervises maintenance of all glaze preparation process and laboratory equipment.
- Maintains proper inventory levels and places requests for re-order of stains and chemicals.
- Prepare and present reports; respond to requests for information.
- Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies.
- Organizes safety meetings and inspects department as per the self-inspection list and correction forms abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designation representative.
- Coach, train, instruct, and offer guidance to all subordinates.
- Hold team accountable to meet production schedule and production objective.
- Perform annual reviews for direct reports, engage in employee development and discipline as applicable.
- Lead recruiting, hiring, and training of staff for area of responsibility.
- Responsible for monitoring and approving employee action in EC (Human Resource Information System) in a timely manner.
- Responsible for auditing time data audit report of recorded time and errors and track attendance daily.
- Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
- Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of school and experience required.
- Three to five years of applicable experience in a clay products manufacturing plant.
- Identify issues, problems and opportunities while maintaining effectiveness in changing environment.
- Manage multiple priorities while achieving deadlines.
- Monitor departmental compliance with applicable local rules and regulation.
- Must be able to interact with all members of process team and managers.
- Must be able to communicate positively with shift managers and section leaders.
- Experience with development of scope to identify and environmental needs for capital projects
- Must be able to operate a PC and various office equipment/technology, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to visit other Clay sites (Class A, B, C with Haz Mat Endorsement. Any employee who drives on your organization’s behalf – Office Staff, Sales Reps, etc.)

Frequently drive a personal vehicle to deliver bank deposits to local bank.
Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Up to 25% travel time required.
Regular attendance is required.
